Well, Daniel and I get pretty bored on the weekends. We have friends but it seems most of our friends are couples that also have kids and we have to schedule our hanging out around the times they don’t have kids. It can get pretty annoying at times. So I told him that we needed to do more things, like going places, etc. So we decided that we were going to go to an anime convention.
We have always wanted to go to one but wanted to go to one that was actually feasible that we could go to. I mean we have been to Anime Weekend Atlanta, but we wanted to try something new. I love to travel and don’t mind going/ flying places to see new things. Daniel knows how much I have been wanting to go to a convention to see the Voice over panels and also the art workshops. So anyways, we came up with going to either Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh PA ( which we could drive too) and Anime Expo in Los Angeles ( we would have to fly there and it gets pretty expensive). So I looked at the guests what would be appearing at each convention… anime expo hasn’t posted their guests yet…. so I really just looked at who would be at Tekkoshocon. OMG! you will never guess who is there!!! Johnny Yong Bosch! Recently I have been loving his voice acting work because he has been in many of the games I play. Oh yeah, and lets not forget he was the Black Power Ranger! HA HA! His band, Eyeshine, will also be playing at the con and I know he will have a panel. He seems to always have a panel. Anyways, unless he ends up showing up at Anime Expo, I really want to go to Tekkoshocon.
So I rean this all by Daniel and he was actually excited to go. He said we could drive up there and then come back. I was excited. So I tell him the days he would need to take off from work. April 2-6. Not too bad as that is only 3 workdays for him and he gets 2 weeks off of work. I figured this was enough time in advance to go talk to his boss and request the days off.
Obviously, I was wrong! His boss told him straight up no! I mean! NO! He told Daniel that he knew that that was their busy season at work and he couldn’t believe that Daniel was asking for those days. He then told him that he was questioning his lack of teamwork. WHAT?! I mean I didn’t want to get him in trouble of anything. But Daniel told his boss that he just wanted to ask because it was something I really wanted to go to. His boss once again told him no. Then later that day, his boss comes up to him again and asks him, what he wanted to go to again. I don’t think it’s any of his business, but Daniel told him an animation convention. His boss then proceeds to say, “ why would she want to go to something like that?! Didn’t you say that animation was not in high demand?!” Daniel looked at him and said, um not here in Podunk ass-ville.
Sigh, so I think my heart is broken. I really wanted to go. I keep looking at the website and looking at Johnny Bosch. Either I’m heart broken or obsessed.
A part of me, wants to just go up there by myself. Daniel, of course doesn’t want me to do that because a) he is worried about my safety b) he would like to go too. A part of me feels selfish for wanting to go by myself but the other part feels as if I don’t go, Daniel will always be holding me back from what I really want to do…..
